Now in it’s sixth year, Small Business Saturday is one of the most anticipated days of the year for small business owners across the country. Slated for November 28th, 2015, it’s a day to celebrate independent businesses while kicking off the peak holiday shopping season in style — small business style, that is. Consumers have gotten onboard with this nationally recognized day as well, with over 88 million customers shopping on Small Business Saturday in 2014, spending an estimated $14.3 billion that day.
More than 10,000 small businesses have pledged to be a part of this year’s Small Business Saturday, with more and more still signing up to participate in this annual tradition at ShopSmall.com. American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help small business owners generate visibility, customer attention, and sales, and as their official Spokesperson this year, I’m honored to help support such an important audience of businesses. Tip #1: Start a Countdown Calendar
Whether you began a calendar 30 days out or have only a few days left to start your countdown, there’s no time to waste. Using social media, email marketing, in-store flyers, and word of mouth, let your customers, friends, family, community, and neighbors know what you have planned for this upcoming November 28th.
Tip #2: Identify What You Are Doing Above & Beyond
Small Business Saturday will stand out nationwide as a day to celebrate, but what are you doing in your unique business to help it stand out even more?
